Olive Free Library’s Exhibitions

Hudson Valley Watercolors curated by Staats Fasoldt

The Olive Free Library Association is very pleased to present the exhibition Hudson Valley Watercolors showcasing the works of 24 Hudson Valley artists who have dedicated all or a great amount of their time to creating watercolor artworks. The show, curated by Staats Fasoldt will run from September 24 through November 5, 2022 with an opening on Saturday, September 24 from 3 – 5 pm.

Staats Fasoldt says about this exhibition, “This is a Hudson Valley Watercolors exhibition and I have known all the artists I selected for a long time. I have worked with them and learned from them, and they are artists I admire. In many ways this exhibition is autobiographical, revealing what I have seen and been moved by during my time living in the Hudson Valley. I’ve dreamt of doing a show like this and thank the Olive Free Library for giving me the opportunity.”

About the curator: Staats Fasoldt is President of the Board of the Woodstock School of Art and has taught painting and drawing there for more than 35 years. He is an active member of the Woodstock Artist’s Association, The Art Society of Kingston, and a member of Longreach Arts, the Hudson Valley’s premier mobile Artists Co-op. Staats has an MFA in painting from Suny New Paltz and has had numerous one person and group exhibitions, displaying his watercolors. Staats’s paintings are direct interpretations of nature that stress spontaneity as method; he is an exponent of the minimal statement.

Participating artists in this show are: Bruce Ackerman, Robert Barnes, Beverly Bennett, Nancy Campbell, Carol Davis, Barry DeBaun, Beth Dixon, Claudia Engel, Staats Fasoldt, Mira Fink, Angela Gaffney-Smith, Betsy Jacaruso, Alex Martin, Kate McGloughlin, Alan McKnight, Linda Novick, Mary Ottway, Walter Pokowitz, Richard Segalman, Susan Silverman, Wayne Sittner, Thomas Stratton, Anna Wang, and Joyce Washor.
