Long-Range Plan

Help us decide what is important for our community for the next three years.

The mission of the Olive Free Library is to provide our community and its surrounding neighbors with materials and services that meet educational, informational, cultural, and recreational needs. It also provides a site for community activities that meet the same needs.

The Olive Free Library staff, Director, and Trustees are developing the next three-year Long Range Plan, and we need your help.  Please take a moment to fill out this survey to help us develop a plan to enhance what the library offers over the next three years.  It is through your input that we can create a vibrant new plan centered on community involvement.

Based on community input in 2023, we have:

  • Opened a branch in Shokan

  • Upgraded existing hardware and software, integrated interactive displays, and acquired fiber through the federal E-rate program

  • Updated lighting throughout the building

  • Painted the paneling

  • Replaced the drop ceiling

  • Re-imagined the children’s area

  • Created pollinator gardens

  • Established partnerships with local community businesses

  • Developed a diverse calendar of cultural Events

  • Enhanced community connections through our Friends events, like the Music Cafe

  • Created a makerspace

  • Joined the Sustainable Libraries Initiative
