The Olive Free Library will host an early-summer Book Fair on Saturday, June 4th, from 10 am to 4 pm that includes live music, food, kids’ activities, and a book and plant sale.

The Friends of the Olive Free Library, Staff, and  Board of Directors have organized to offer an all-day, early-summer Book Fair at the library.

The library’s community room will be the setting for a book sale with titles in every genre—from children’s books to recent fiction, mystery, and nonfiction. A plant sale of perennials, shrubs, and seedlings will take place outside, weather permitting.

Blue Smoke BBQ will provide food for the Book Fair, including hamburgers and hot dogs, plus vegetarian options. The library’s ukulele group, which meets at the library every Friday afternoon, will be on hand to serenade Fair-goers with a selection of familiar favorites from every era.

Local singer/songwriter Bill Melvin will also provide music during the Book Fair. Melvin plays guitar, harmonica, and sings in the folk-rock style, sometimes referred to as Americana. Attendees can expect a mix of Melvin’s favorite songs with some originals sprinkled in.

There will be fun for the kids as well. The library will have a free face painter from 11 am to 2 pm, large outdoor lawn games all day, and craft activities.

The library’s Book Fair will take place rain or shine, and be set up in a combination of the library’s ample indoor and outdoor spaces. All proceeds from the Book Fair will benefit the Olive Free Library to help with the many services it provides to the community.
